Barb Hall, Certified Piano Technician

About Me

Barb Hall I am a Certified Piano Technician in the Greater Toronto Area, and received my diploma in Piano Technology at George Brown College in Toronto. I have serviced hundreds of pianos and have acquired the necessary skills to make just about any repair on any piano. I am also an associate member of the Piano Technician's Guild. I attend regular meetings of the Guild to hone my skills and knowledge, and to learn from more seasoned veterans of the trade. My goal is to take the necessary written, technical and tuning exams through the Guild to obtain the designation RPT - Registered Piano Technician.

I run the business out of my home, where I sell re-conditioned pianos that I have purchased or consigned from clients. My entire basement is my workshop where I can do major repairs such as re-stringing, bridge repair or replacement and soundboard work on upright and grand pianos, and action repairs. In addition, I regularly visit clients homes to tune and repair their pianos.

I also hold a degree in Business Administration from York University, a diploma in Computer Science from Seneca College, and a certificate as a Litigation Clerk from Centennial College. In addition, I have completed the Royal Conservatory of Music Grade 7 in piano, Grade 3 in Theory and am currently studying Grade 8 in piano. I am currently studying my Master's Degree in Distance Education at Athabasca University, with the hopes of someday establishing an online distance learning course in Piano Technology.

In my spare time, I enjoy photography, gardening, fitness, web design, and of course music!
